Indiana’s Only Urban State Park
Located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, this is Indiana’s only urban State Park offering an array of attractions, entertainment and recreation. The park is home to the Indianapolis Zoo, White River Gardens, Indiana State Museum, IMAX® Theater, Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians & Western Art, NCAA Hall of Champions, Victory Field “Home of the Indianapolis Indians” and the Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial.
Objective:
White River State Park wanted to add more modern services to its facilities including wireless Internet. The wireless network was to be used to help direct users to information on the park as well as be an attractive amenity to event coordinators.
Challenges:
The park is a sprawling mixed use green space spread out over 250 acres with multiple facilities and independent arts and cultural entities in the middle of downtown Indianapolis. The topography and distance from buildings with broadband access made network architecture difficult and coverage potentially sporadic.
Result:
eWireless was able to consult with the park’s key personnel to identify strategic areas where Wi-Fi access would be most valuable. Using the eWireless Hot Zone System, regions of wireless Internet connectivity were created for the public to enjoy. Each time a visitor to the park uses the service they are connected with information on the park as well as upcoming events and attractions. Once the areas for deployment were identified, the eWireless Hot Zone System took only a few hours to be programmed, installed and fully functioning.
